About This Opportunity
Responsibilities may include:
• Provide comprehensive dental examinations and oral health assessments for patients.
• Diagnose dental conditions and develop appropriate treatment plans.
• Perform preventive and restorative dental procedures within the scope of licensure, such as cleanings, fillings, extractions, and emergency care, as applicable.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options.
• Review patient health histories and maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
• Collaborate with dental hygienists, assistants, laboratory technicians, and other volunteers to ensure quality patient care.
• Supervise and provide clinical guidance to volunteer dental staff and students when appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, safety standards, and professional ethical guidelines.
• Support the nonprofit's mission by providing compassionate, culturally sensitive care to underserved and uninsured populations.
• Participate in community outreach, oral health education programs, and special dental service.
Requirements:
• Current, unrestricted license to practice dentistry in Florida.
• Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.
• Active DEA registration, if required for prescribing medications.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• Professional liability/malpractice coverage as required by Little Lights Dentistry. • Strong knowledge of current dental practices, infection control procedures, and patient safety standards.
• Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care to underserved, uninsured, and diverse populations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with volunteer staff, dental hygienists, assistants, laboratory technicians, and community partners.
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations.
• Willingness to adhere to the nonprofit's mission, policies, and volunteer guidelines. • Ability to pass any required background checks, credential verification, and onboarding
Time Commitment:
One day per week at Little Lights office.

Little Lights Dentistry removes barriers to dental care for children. They believe every child deserves quality care, regardless of their family's ability to pay. They provide free pediatric dental care to uninsured, income-eligible children in Florida.

No child should go to bed with a toothache.
