About This Opportunity

Responsibilities:

-Assist with preparing sandwiches, salads, side dishes, and other meal components.

-Help package and label prepared meals for distribution.

-Repackage recovered food from grocery stores, restaurants, and food partners for client use.

-Sort, inspect, and package fresh produce from Growing Hope Farm, gleaning efforts, and other food sources.

-Follow food safety, sanitation, and handling procedures at all times.

-Assist with inventory management, including organizing food storage areas and rotating stock.

-Wash, sanitize, and maintain workstations, equipment, and food preparation areas.

-Support meal assembly and packaging processes to ensure quality and consistency.

-Identify and report damaged, spoiled, or unsuitable food items.

-Assist with special projects, seasonal initiatives, and community food distribution events.

-Work cooperatively with staff and fellow volunteers to meet daily production goals.

-Represent House of Hope professionally while supporting its mission to reduce hunger and improve food security.

Requirements

-Friendly, dependable, and willing to work as part of a team.

-Ability to follow instructions and food safety guidelines.

-Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.

-Ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers, and community members from diverse backgrounds.

-Completion of House of Hope volunteer orientation.

-Review of Nutrition Center policies and procedures.

-Food safety and sanitation training provided by House of Hope.

-Instruction on proper food handling, packaging, labeling, and storage procedures.

-Ability to stand for extended periods during volunteer shifts.

-Frequent walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements.

-Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, with reasonable accommodation if needed.

-Ability to work in refrigerated or temperature-controlled food storage areas when necessary.

-Ability to safely use basic kitchen and food preparation equipment.

-Ability to maintain a fast-paced work environment during meal production activities.

Time Comitment:

Monday through Friday Morning and afternoon shifts available Flexible scheduling based on program needs and volunteer availability Specific shift times will be coordinated with the Volunteer Coordinator.
